Michelle de Paula Firmo, de 38 años y esposa del presidente brasileño, Jair Bolsonaro, dio positivo para Covid-19, enfermedad de la que el mandatario se recuperó el pasado fin de semana, informaron este jueves fuentes oficiales.

“La primera dama Michelle Bolsonaro testó positivo de Covid-19 este jueves. Presenta un buen estado de salud y seguirá todos los protocolos establecidos, acompañada por el equipo médico de la Presidencia”, informó en una nota el Gobierno.

Bolsonaro se recuperó el pasado fin de semana de la enfermedad que había llegado a tildar de “gripecita” y por la que permaneció recluido veinte días, después de dar positivo el 7 de julio.

El resultado del examen de la primera dama fue conocido en momentos en que el Mandatario se encuentra en un viaje oficial por el noreste del país, el primero que realiza desde su recuperación.

Este mismo jueves, el Gobierno confirmó que también ha dado positivo el ministro de Ciencia y Tecnología, Marcos Pontes, quien es el quinto miembro del gabinete de Bolsonaro que contrae COVID-19.

Brasil, con 210 millones de habitantes, es en números absolutos el segundo país del mundo más afectado por la emergencia sanitaria, por detrás de Estados Unidos, y ya acumula más de 90.000 muertos y 2,55 millones de contagiados por coronavirus.

Cinco meses después de la confirmación del primer caso, la pandemia todavía no da señales de estabilización en el país, que volvió a registrar la víspera un nuevo récord tanto en el número de muertes como de casos en una sola jornada.

Según el último boletín del Ministerio de Salud, divulgado el miércoles, Brasil contabilizó 1.595 nuevos decesos y 69.074 nuevos contagios en 24 horas.
