El ministro de Salud, Hamid Hassan, inform贸 que cientos de personas resultaron heridas por la explosi贸n que ocurri贸 en el 谩rea portuaria de Beirut,聽en una secci贸n que almacena materiales altamente explosivos, seg煤n el jefe de Seguridad Interna del L铆bano, Abbas Ibrahim, citado por la agencia oficial de noticias estatal NNA.

Medios locales e internacionales aseguraron que聽hay al menos 10 muertos, pero las autoridades a煤n no confirmaron ning煤n fallecido,聽aunque s铆 dieron alerta a todos los hospitales de la zona para recibir a un alto n煤mero de heridos.

Otro video muestra la destrucci贸n en las inmediaciones, con autos y camiones con vidrios rotos y las calles cubiertas de escombros.

Entre los edificios da帽ados est谩n las oficinas del ex primer ministro Saad Hariri y las oficinas locales de CNN, seg煤n inform贸 la propia cadena de noticias.

Seg煤n testigos, los hogares que se encontraban a una distancia de hasta 10 kil贸metros de distancia resultaron da帽ados, con balcones derrumbados y vidrios destruidos.

Una testigo que vio la escena a una distancia de varios kil贸metros del lugar, dijo que sus ventanas estallaron por la explosi贸n: “Lo que sent铆 fue un terremoto”, afirm贸 Rania Masri a la cadena CNN.

“El departamento se sacudi贸 horizontalmente y de repente se sinti贸 como una explosi贸n y las ventanas y puertas se abrieron de golpe. El vidrio se rompi贸. Muchas casas fueron da帽adas o destruidas”, describi贸 la mujer.

El jefe de Seguridad Interna, Ibrahim, visit贸 de inmediato el lugar de la explosi贸n y pidi贸 calma ante la falta de certezas.
