El ministro de Salud, Ginés González GarcÃa, se refirió a la vacuna de Oxford contra el coronavirus, cuya producción se llevará a cabo a nivel local. “De entrada tenemos asegurada una cantidad de vacunas para el 20% de la población”, dijo el funcionario.
González GarcÃa dijo que si bien “ha sido muy prudente” el anuncio realizado el miércoles sobre el acuerdo para producir una vacuna contra el coronavirus, aseguró que “apuesta” a que recién estará lista “en el primer trimestre del año que viene”.
“Ha habido mucha prudencia en el anuncio, pero si usted me pregunta yo me juego y apuesto a que será en el primer trimestre del año que viene. Soy optimista, el laboratorio dijo el primer semestre, a mediados de año, pero semestre no es eso”, afirmó el ministro en declaraciones radiales.
Además, González GarcÃa dijo que si bien está “muy contento y orgulloso” por el acuerdo, aclaró que también “estamos negociando con los tres estudios mas adelantados, como el de China (de la farmacéutica CanSino junto con la unidad de investigación militar), los que están haciendo una experiencia clÃnica en el paÃs (BioNTech, empresa alemana, y Pfizer, farmacéutica estadounidense) y el tercero que es AstraZeneca, que lleva varios meses”, en referencia al proyecto anunciado por el presidente Alberto Fernández y que ese laboratorio realiza junto al Universidad de Oxford, y cuya vacuna serÃa producida por México y nuestro paÃs.
“Lo de ayer fue importante por varias razones, la primera porque nos da una oportunidad. Mi miedo fue siempre que como esto se produce en el hemisferio norte y la investigación y la prioridad es para su población, quedáramos un poco atrás en un tema que es mundial y lo de ayer nos ubica en la misma linea y tiempo que otros paÃses del mundo”.
