Rusia anuncia que su vacuna contra el Covid-19 tiene un 92% de efectividad

“Las posibilidades de contraer Covid-19 se ubicaron en un 92% más bajas entre las personas vacunadas con Sputnik V que entre las que recibieron el placebo”, señalaron desde el RDIF, lo que indica que está muy por encima del umbral de efectividad del 50% para las vacunas Covid-19 establecido por la Administración de Alimentos y Medicamentos de Estados Unidos.

El anuncio de Rusia sigue rápidamente los resultados publicados el lunes por los desarrolladores de vacunas Pfizer Inc y BioNTech, quienes dijeron que su inyección también fue más de 90% efectiva.

La vacuna Pfizer y BioNTech utiliza tecnología de ARN mensajero (ARNm) y está diseñada para desencadenar una respuesta inmune sin usar patógenos, como las partículas de virus reales.

La vacuna Sputnik V busca desencadenar una respuesta a partir de dos inyecciones administradas con 21 días de diferencia cada una basada en diferentes vectores virales que normalmente causan el resfriado común: los adenovirus humanos Ad5 y Ad26.

Fernández aseguró que fue la Federación Rusa, a través de su Fondo Soberano, quien se comunicó semanas atrás con representantes del Gobierno “para saber si estábamos interesados en contar con una cantidad determinada”, la cual se encuentra actualmente en un “estadio avanzando” de fase III.
