Luego de horas de tensión, el auto fúnebre ingresó a las 16:45 a la Casa Rosada y, una hora después, salió por la parte trasera de la Casa de Gobierno, por lo que miles de fanáticos que esperaban verlo en Plaza de Mayo se quedaron sin dar su último adiós al Diez.

Desde la Rosada, el auto fúnebre tomó Paseo Colón, secundado por decenas de autos y motos de la Policía y Gendarmería. Desde ese momento y hasta llegar al cementerio Parque Jardín, en Bella Vista, el cortejo fue acompañado por cientos de seguidores que saludaban a quien fue uno de los ídolos más grandes del país.

Y mientras el auto, negro y cargado de flores, subía a la Autopista 25 de Mayo, miles de personas lo hacían también, ya fuera en auto o a pie. Es que el fanatismo por el Pelusa hizo que las banquinas, los carriles y los divisores de la autopista se cargaran de banderas, gritos y emoción, todos unidos en un saludo al último campeón mundial del fútbol argentino.

Las escenas del cortejo, que tardó más de una hora en llegar, eran inéditas y emocionantes. Sin ningún disturbio, el auto y los policías se trasladaron por el Acceso Oeste, y en ambos costados de la autopista se presentaron los fanáticos. Aunque no eran los únicos: en balcones y en parques, en puentes y en calles, en veredas y terrazas, toda persona que vio pasar el auto fúnebre decidió dedicar unos segundos a saludar a los restos de Maradona.

Y así como Maradona hizo en el gol a los ingleses en el Mundial del ’86, el auto fúnebre debió evadir uno a uno a los autos, camionetas, colectivos y, sobre todo, fanáticos, que estaban en el camino. Y así lo hicieron los integrantes del operativo policial, que además se ocuparon de dispersar la ruta hacia el cementerio.

Finalmente, después de una hora de velocidad, emoción, llantos, sonrisas y despedidas, el auto fúnebre ingresó en Parque Jardín, que se encuentra bajo un importante cerrojo, ya que el último adiós será exclusivamente para familiares y amigos del ídolo. Allí lo esperan Guillermo Coppola, exrepresentante y amigo, sus hijos e hijas y sus padres Doña Tota y Don Diego, enterrados desde 2011 y 2015.
