El piloto británico de automovilismo, Sir Lewis Hamilton, que en el 2020 igualó el récord histórico de siete títulos Mundiales de F1 del alemán, Michael Schumacher, ha renovado por una temporada más el contrato con la escudería, Mercedes, según se anunció este lunes.

La escudería alemana, ganadora de los últimos siete Mundiales de constructores y de pilotos en la categoría reina del motor, ha hecho público un comunicado en el que anuncia que el campeón británico seguirá siendo piloto del equipo de Brackley durante el 2021.

“Estoy emocionado de disputar mi novena temporada con mis compañeros de Mercedes. Nuestro equipo ha logrado cosas increíbles y esperamos seguir aumentando todavía más nuestro éxito mientras buscamos mejorar continuamente, tanto dentro como fuera de la pista”, destacó el británico sobre su renovación con Mercedes.

El conductor de F1 además agregó: “Estoy también decidido a continuar el viaje que comenzamos para hacer que haya más diversidad en el automovilismo para las generaciones futuras, y estoy agradecido de que Mercedes haya apoyado enormemente mi petición de abordar ese problema. Estoy orgulloso de decir que vamos a llevar ese esfuerzo más lejos este año con el lanzamiento de una fundación dedicada a la diversidad y la inclusión en el deporte. Estoy emocionado por todo lo que podemos construir juntos y deseando volver a la pista en marzo”.
