Un nuevo documento judicial presentado la noche del viernes en el Distrito Sur de Nueva York apunta a que el presidente de Honduras, Juan Orlando Hernández, habría aceptado sobornos provenientes del narcotráfico.
Esta no es la primera acusación que los fiscales estadounidenses presentan contra el mandatario centroamericano, anteriormente ya lo han acusado de participar en tráfico de drogas en su país.
El documento, citado por la agencia de noticias Reuters, fue presentado por los fiscales para la admisión de pruebas en el caso del presunto narcotraficante Geovanny Fuentes Ramírez, a quien se acusa de conspirar con políticos de alto rango de Honduras para distribuir cocaína en Estados Unidos por vía aérea y terrestre.
Las pesquisas consignan las supuestas palabras del mandatario hondureño en las que afirmaba que buscaba “meter las drogas delante de las narices de los gringos” e inundar los Estados Unidos de cocaína.
Pese a que el escrito, que consta de 55 páginas, no señala a Hernández por nombre, sino bajo el seudónimo CC4 o conspirador número 4, él queda inequívocamente identificado por aludir a su hermano y a su puesto como presidente.
De acuerdo con la investigación, el acusado Fuentes Ramírez, se asoció a finales del 2013 “con CC4 y funcionarios de alto rango del Ejército hondureño. En este momento, CC4 buscaba ser elegido presidente de Honduras como miembro del Partido Nacional de Honduras”. Además, el acusado habría comprado los favores de protección del mandatario mediante el pago de 25.000 dólares.
Entre otras acusaciones dirigidas a Hernández está la de aceptar unos 18.000 dólares de parte de Devis Leonel Rivera Maradiaga, exlíder de la organización criminal hondureña Los Cachiros, cuando aún era candidato a la presidencia.
La agencia de noticias Reuters aseguró que el gobierno de Honduras no ha respondido a las solicitudes de comentarios relacionadas al tema. Sin embargo, en el pasado el mandatario ha negado rotundamente cualquier vínculo con los cárteles de la droga y su última declaración al respecto la hizo a través de un comunicado de prensa, en el que afirmaba que continuará su lucha contra el narcotráfico hasta el último día de su gobierno y que las acusaciones que criminales confesos hacen en su contra son “ridículas”.
Los fiscales también dijeron que la asistencia del gobierno hondureño en las investigaciones en curso “apenas ha sido recibida”, acusando al gobierno hondureño de proporcionar “registros limitados” y de no cumplir con las solicitudes de extradición de posibles testigos contra el presidente.
