Coronavirus: Uruguay cierra escuelas y oficinas públicas

El presidente de Ururguay, Luis Lacalle Pou, anunció una serie de medidas sanitarias contra el coronavirus. Registran las peores cifras de contagios y muertes.

El gobierno de Uruguay resolvió suspender las clases presenciales hasta la Semana Santa inclusive -viernes 2 de abril- y cerrar las oficinas estatales -excepto aquellas que prestan servicios imprescindibles- y cancelar los espectáculos públicos hasta el 12 de abril, entre otras medidas destinadas a frenar los contagios.

Paralelamente, hasta el 12 de abril los bares deberán cerrar a medianoche, los free shops en las fronteras permanecerán clausurados y estarán prohibidos los eventos y las fiestas sociales. Asimismo, se ordenó el cierre de los complejos termales durante la Semana de Turismo que coincide con la Semana Santa.

En ese ínterin la fuerza pública disolverá cualquier aglomeración en el espacio público. “Vamos a aplicar la ley vigente”, advirtió Lacalle Pou.

“Hemos tomado medidas que tienen como centro reducir la movilidad y una vez más la acción de gobierno tiene necesariamente que estar acompañada por las conductas individuales”, explicó el mandatario uruguayo.

Cifras alarmantes

Las medidas fueron anunciadas por Lacalle Pou al cabo de una jornada de análisis en la que mantuvo reuniones con sus ministros y otros colaboradores desde la mañana temprano hasta bien avanzada la tarde.

Ese movimiento fue la reacción después de que el lunes se confirmara que la cepa P1 del coronavirus, la que proviene de Brasil, ya circula en siete departamentos uruguayos, entre ellos Montevideo.

Además, el Sistema Nacional de Emergencias (Sinae) informó que en menos de 24 horas se duplicaron los casos y se rompió la barrera simbólica de los 2.500 infectados en un solo día.

En concreto, se detectaron 2.682 casos nuevos y 19 muertos, y ambas cifras son récord desde que se detectó el primer caso en Uruguay.

También se llegó al máximo en cuanto a la de cantidad de gente cursando la enfermedad, con 14.418, y a su vez también se alcanzó el número más alto de personas internadas en terapia intensiva: 188.

Por ese motivo, el Ministerio de Salud Pública dispuso el martes último, la suspensión hasta el 30 de abril de todas las cirugías programadas no urgentes en todo el país y tanto para prestadores estatales como privados.

El país acumulaba desde el comienzo de la pandemia 85.881 casos confirmados de coronavirus (1.669 en las últimas 24 horas), de los cuales 14.838 personas tenían la infección activa (188 estaban hospitalizadas, todas en terapia intensiva) y 810 murieron por la enfermedad, informó el Sinae.
