A Vélez no le alcanzó con el empate agónico y Talleres se clasificó en los octavos de final de la Copa Argentina luego de ganar por penales.

Talleres avanzó a los octavos de final de la Copa Argentina al imponerse en la definición por penales a Vélez Sarsfield por 3-1, después de haber igualado 1-1 en el tiempo reglamentario en el que el elenco cordobés ganaba con gol de Michael Santos, pero Vélez se lo empató en el final a través de Lucas Janson.

Hubo que definir desde el punto del penal y ahí Talleres consiguió la victoria 3-1 con una gran actuación de Marcos Díaz. Con esta victoria el equipo cordobés se clasificó a la próxima fase y tendrá que esperar el ganador del partido entre Huracán Las Heras y Estudiantes de Río Cuarto para saber con cual de los dos se medirá en los octavos de final de la Copa Argentina.

El encuentro comenzó con una superioridad marcada del conjunto de Córdoba, más decidido y pudiendo recuperar la pelota rápidamente. Aprovechando los espacios que dejó el equipo de Liniers, Michael Santos abrió el marcador con un buen remate a los 13, luego de un error de Hoyos, quien no consiguió quedarse con la pelota.

Recién a partir de los 20, Vélez mostró un cambio en su juego e intentó llegar más al área rival. Si bien en pocos minutos tuvo dos posibilidades claras, una en la que respondió bien Díaz y otra que se perdió Galdames en el área, el Fortín no consiguió el empate.

Luego del repunte experimentado por el equipo dirigido por Pellegrino, el encuentro fue más parejo y a pesar que Talleres generó jugadas más peligrosas, no pudo volver a mostrarse superior como lo hizo antes de abrir el marcador. El primer tiempo finalizó 1-0 pero con posibilidades para ambos.

En los primeros minutos del complemento, el partido se hizo de ida y vuelta, pero de todos modos, talleres siguió siendo superior, aunque no en la magnitud que lo había sido en el inicio.

A medida que fueron pasando los minutos, el conjunto cordobés se fue replegando y conformando con la ventaja parcial pero Vélez seguía impreciso y no llegaba con claridad.

A los 31 el Fortín se quedó con 10 jugadores luego de la expulsión de Francisco Ortega por doble amarilla. Parecía caso cerrado.

En los últimos minutos el encuentro volvió a crecer nuevamente y las chances fueron para ambos. Sobre la hora, Pero en lo últimos instantes apareció Lucas Janson, empató el partido y forzó los penales.
