Con casi el 97% escrutado, Lasso se impuso con 52,52% de los votos frente a un 47,48% de Arauz, según el Consejo Nacional Electoral de Ecuador.

El candidato de la alianza de la derecha y el Partido Social Cristiano, Guillermo Lasso, ganó el balotaje frente al correista Andrés Arauz, según casi la totalidad del escrutinio oficial, y se declaró “presidente electo del Ecuador” luego de imponerse alcanzar el 52,52% de los votos, con más del 97% de los votos escrutados, según el portal del Consejo Nacional Electoral (CNE).

Guillaume Long, vocero de la campaña de candidato correista y ganador de la primera vuelta presidencial, Arauz, se había mostrado confiado horas antes en que podrían dar vuelta la elección cuando se cargaran de forma masiva los votos de la costa del país, una región tradicionalmente más cercana a su movimiento.

Sin embargo, esto nunca sucedió en el escrutinio oficial y la ventaja, aunque pequeña, se mantuvo.

“Este es un día histórico en el que todos los ecuatorianos han expresado con su voto la necesidad de cambio y el deseo de mejores días para todos”, aseguró el candidato, quien agradeció a todos sus aliados, entre ellos el estratega Jaime Durán Barba.
