Vaticano: el Papa Francisco recibió a Martín Guzmán

El ministro se reunió a solas en el Vaticano con el pontífice. El encuentro se dio en la Biblioteca Privada del segundo piso del Palacio Apostólico.

El Papa Francisco recibió este miércoles, en el Vaticano y por el término de 45 minutos, al ministro de Economía Martín Guzmán, como parte de la visita que el funcionario realiza a Roma, donde se encontrará con su par italiano Daniele Franco, y en una nueva etapa de la gira europea que inició el fin de semana último con la premisa de conseguir apoyos de cara a la restructuración de la deuda.

Guzmán se reunió a solas con el pontífice en la Biblioteca Privada del segundo piso del Palacio Apostólico, en donde abordaron la situación de la deuda que debe afrontar el país con el Fondo Momentario Internacional (FMI) y con el Club de París, en medio de fuertes pedidos del Papa para que los organismos internacionales avancen en una “reducción significativa de la deuda” de los países más empobrecidos.

Guzmán llegó a Roma a última hora del martes acompañado por el director ante el FMI por la Argentina y el Cono Sur, Sergio Chodos, y la jefa de gabinete del Ministerio de Economía, Melina Mallamace, luego de su paso por Berlín y antes de continuar la gira por Madrid y París.

La agenda de Guzmán en la capital italiana inició a las 9 locales (4 de nuestro país) con una reunión con el presidente de la Pontificia Academia de Ciencias Sociales (PACS), el economista italiano Stefano Zamagni, de la que también participó el obispo argentino Marcelo Sánchez Sorondo, canciller de la institución.

La reunión, considerada por las fuentes vaticanas como un “gesto importante” de la Santa Sede para escuchar en boca de Guzmán la posición argentina sobre la deuda , fue en la Casina Pio IV, dentro de los jardines del Vaticano y el mismo edificio en el que el ministro expuso el 5 de febrero de 2020 junto a la titular del FMI, Kristalina Georgieva, en un evento en el que también participó el Papa.

Uno de los miembros ordinarios de la PACS, designado en junio pasado por Francisco, es el actual premier italiano, Mario Draghi, expresidente del Banco Central Europeo y figura de peso en el mapa político del Viejo Continente.

En otro gesto de la Santa Sede hacia Guzmán, el ministro y su comitiva pudieron recorrer la Capilla Sixtina, la obra cumbre de Miguel Ángel en la que se realizó el cónclave que eligió a Francisco como Papa, pese a que los museos vaticanos se encuentran cerrados al público hasta el 3 de mayo.

Tras las reuniones con Zamagni y con Francisco, Guzmán encabezará un encuentro en la embajada argentina ante Italia con empresas italianas radicadas en la Argentina que organizó el embajador Roberto Carlés.

Luego del encuentro con las empresas, entre ellas algunas de peso como ENEL, Eni, Ghella y Leonardo, Guzmán tendrá una bilateral con su par italiano en la sede del ministero de Economía del país europeo.
